Number five (numero 5)
Rino Gaetano – Gianna: Salvatore Antonio Gaetano or more known as Rino Gaetano born on the 29th October 1950 is a Calabrian singer song writer. His most famous song is Gianna, which was first performed during the Sanremo’s festival in 1978. The song has various meanings but it’s believed that talk about a previous relation with a woman called Gianna.
Number four (numero 4)
Vasco Rossi – Sally: Vasco is definitely the most known Italian song writer all over the world. The Song Sally was published in the album “Nessun pericolo… per te” in 1996. The song talks about a woman that thinks she wasted her life, with a lot of faults. She thinks that she could have lived a better life.
Number three (numero 3)
Lucio Dalla- L’anno che verra: this is one of the master pieces of this Bolognese song writer born in 1943. He died on the 1st of March 2012. L’anno che verra was written in 1978 and talk about the various terrorist, mafia’s attacks and the murder of Aldo Moro in those years.
Number two (numero 2)
Francesco De Gregori – Generale: Francesco is a Roman song-writer born in 1951, and he is most known for this song “Generale”, which became a lot more famous when Vasco Rossi made a cover of it. The song lyrics talk about the experience of the writer when he was serving in the alpini (an Italian military unit). He writes about the spill of blood on the German side of the mountains.
Number one (numero uno)
Fabrizio DeAndré – La guerra di Piero. DeAndré is a Genovese song-writer and is definitely one of the greatest poets in Italian history. Unfortunately he died of lung cancer in 1999. One of his top hits was “La Guerra di Piero” that talk about his uncle that fought in Albania and when he returned from a concentration camp.
